Different types of diamond tooling fitments

Diamond Tooling Fitment Guide: Redi-Lock, SASE, Diamatic/Dialoc, HTC, Lavina, ASL/Trapezoid + More

If you’ve ever ordered “diamond segments” that looked right… but didn’t fit your machine, you already know the truth:

Fitment comes first.
Diamonds (bond/grit/segment shape) matter — but only after the tool actually mounts to your grinder.

This guide makes fitment simple. You’ll learn:

  1. how to identify your mount style fast
  2. which systems slide in / wedge in / bolt on / use magnetic adapters
  3. where to shop the exact compatible tooling on GrandDiamondTools.ca

What “compatible” diamond tooling means

When a product says “Redi-Lock compatible” or “SASE compatible” etc., it means the tool is designed to match that mount interface.

It does not mean:

  • it fits every grinder brand automatically
  • your machine can’t have a different plate/adapter installed
  • one mount style is “universal”

Fast identification method (60 seconds)

Do one of these:

Option A: Look at a segment that already fits

Remove one segment/shoe and check the bottom + how it locks in:

  • Does it slide in and lock?
  • Does it wedge in?
  • Does it bolt on?
  • Does it use a magnetic adapter / holder?

Option B: Look at your plate/holders (not just the grinder brand)

Tooling fitment is determined by the mount interface you’re running — which can be changed with holders/adapters.

Option C: Compare your plate to the category photos

Open the compatible collections below and visually match what you have.

Important clarity (so nobody orders wrong)

Some systems are true “quick-change” where tools slide/wedge in and out quickly. Many manufacturers describe quick-change tooling as a slide/wedge system.
Prep/Master tooling is commonly described as slide-style tooling.

Other setups use holders/adapters that change how the diamond piece attaches — for example, on our site we sell SASE holders with magnetic attachment.

Bottom line:

  • Match the mount interface you are actually running today (plate/holders/adapters included), not just the grinder brand.

After fitment: how to choose the right diamonds (bond + grit + layout)

Once you’ve picked the correct mount style, then choose performance:

1) Bond (match the concrete hardness)

  • Hard concrete → softer bond
  • Soft/abrasive concrete → harder bond
  • Unsure → medium bond is a safe starting point

2) Grit (match your goal)

  • 16/20: aggressive cutting / heavier scratch
  • 30/40: common general-purpose starting point
  • 60/80: refinement pass when needed

3) Segment layout

  • Single: aggressive, faster cut
  • Double: best all-around choice
  • Multi: more stable / consistent scratch

The #1 ordering checklist

Before you buy:

  1. ✅ My mount style is: Redi-Lock / SASE / HTC / Diamatic / Dialoc / Lavina / ASL-Trapezoid / Scanmaskin / Prep-Master / Round
  2. ✅ My goal is: grind / coating prep / coating removal
  3. ✅ My starting grit is: 16/20 or 30/40 (or other)
  4. ✅ My bond is: soft / medium / hard
  5. ✅ My layout is: single / double / multi

If you’re not 100% sure on #1, don’t guess — compare your plate to the collections above.

FAQ

What diamond tooling fits my grinder?

Tooling fit depends on the mount style/plate interface you’re running (Redi-Lock, SASE, HTC, Diamatic/Dialoc, etc.). Confirm the mount first, then shop the matching compatible category.

What’s the difference between Diamatic and Dialoc tooling?

They’re different mount interfaces. If your plate is Dialoc, buy Dialoc-compatible tooling — don’t mix them.

How do I avoid ordering the wrong grinding segments?

Match the mount interface first. If needed, take a photo of your plate and compare it to the compatible collections.

Need help? We can confirm fitment fast.

Send us:

  • a photo of your plate underside
  • your grinder model
  • a photo of any segment that fits (if you have one)

We’ll tell you exactly which compatible category to shop.
